Volunteer Tutor Information
Becoming a Tutor
All tutoring is done by adult volunteers from the community. Potential tutors receive 13.5 hours of training before being matched with a learner. The training consists of an evening orientation and 2 Saturday sessions, and is offered quarterly. You must attend all three sessions in order to be matched with an adult learner.

- Tutoring pairs meet once or twice a week, for two hours each time, at a time and place convenient to both people.
- Staff support and workshops are available to assist tutors in the use of materials and tutoring methods.
Qualities of a tutor:
- The most important qualities in tutors are having a big heart, being patient, flexible, and supportive of adult learners as they work toward their goals.
